The Olathe East Pep Band plays at all home Varsity Basketball games. Any student enrolled in the band program at Olathe East may participate in pep band.

 

Pep Band is a volunteer activity that is not part of any of the classes at Olathe East. It does not count towards a grade, however, it does count for a lot of points towards a band letter. The rehearsals for this group are very minimal, usually consisting of 30 minutes prior to a home game.

 

For those students that have a secondary instrument like guitar or piano this is an excellent opportunity to get to play "non-traditional" band instruments in school. In addition, it is one of the few ensembles that percussion students in the band program can get performance time on drum set.

 

Students are also able to use participation in pep band as community service hours for groups such as NHS since it is a volunteer organization. 

 

This group plays more well known music, and the focus is completely on having fun and supporting the basketball teams! 

 

Sign-ups for this group go up in early November.  The first game is usually in the last few weeks leading up to winter break.
