The Olathe East Pit Orchestra is a volunteer group that plays a critical supporting role in the main stage production of Olathe East's largest musical each year. This group is open to all members of the Olathe East band, but some years auditions are required depending on the number of parts available.

This group has twice been recognized wtih the prestigious Blue Star Award for the best student musician pit orchestra in Kansas City. This recognition includes high schools from the entire Kansas City Metro Area, including both sides of the State Line.
